On March 18th, 2014, Brenda visited Henderson State University to participate in its choirs' “Out of Gray Ashes” concert that was part of a full concert series to celebrate the 100 year anniversary when the school burned down and the decision was made to rebuild. Emersione was performed because the text was fitting and Dr. Ryan Fox, the choral activities director, liked the music, which he found on this website. Dr. Fox made the piece central to the concert and even had a “slide show” produced to run simultaneously with the music – showing a collage of the main college building up in flames, volcanoes, birds, and school activities. The concert went beautifully and had a full house.
